Yes, you read that right, we skipped day 14. We had some family drama and had to forgo our advent for the day. We’re doing advent to teach our kids about family and other important things during the holidays. I don’t want to force an activity and stress everyone out, that’s the opposite of what we’re going for.
So, day 14 got bumped to day 15 instead. We had some excitement with our furry family members on day 14. But enough about that, onto day 15!
What’s Christmas without baking? We decided to bake cookies together. Here’s the recipe for our favourite cookies: Addictive Double Chocolate Mint Cookies. I love using Allrecipes.com to find new recipes. You can search by ingredient or by name or you can browse different categories to get new ideas.
The recipes have reviews so you can quickly tell what works and if the recipe needs any modifications. My favourite part about the site is that you can print the recipes with nutritional information (which comes in really handy for Jordan’s diabetes).
After dinner Jordan, Cam and I started baking. They know that the first 2 things we ALWAYS do when baking is wash our hands and preheat the oven. Then I set all the ingredients on the table and they took turns putting ingredients in the bowl. They love helping with cooking and baking.
After everything was mixed, Jordan and Cam each sat at a table licking a beater (isn’t that the best part?) while I put the cookies in the oven. Don’t forget to clean up as you go, it’s much easier that way. When the cookies were done, after they’d cooled for a few minutes, we each tried one.
They were delicious as always. But we only got one each, they are not for us. Maybe we can make some more for ourselves soon, they are sure yummy! Make sure you check out who we are giving them to tomorrow. It’s going to be fun!
